Forsyth Tech Esports Captures First-Ever Championship Title
The Forsyth Technical Community College Esports team has reached a historic milestone, securing its first championship title in program history.
In a hard-fought post-season tournament, Trailblazers Jahmar Branch and Josue Ayala emerged as champions of the NJCAAE Division 3 Fortnite Build Series. The duo clinched the title after narrowly defeating State Fair Community College in the final round. This victory represents a significant breakthrough for the college's growing Esports initiative.
Reflecting on the successful run, second-year player Jahmar Branch highlighted the team's improvement and mutual support throughout the season.
"I think it was a great season; it was really fun competing and improving every game," Branch said. "I've got a lot of respect for everyone I played against. I just focus on doing my part, and shoutout to Josh—when I have a bad game, he steps up big time, and I try to do the same for him."
The Trailblazers Esports program was established in 2025 under the leadership of Esports Coordinator Kevin McCann. While Fortnite has brought home the first trophy, the program continues to expand its competitive reach across several popular titles, including:
-
Valorant
-
Chess
-
Madden NFL
-
NBA2k
-
Overwatch 2
This inaugural championship sets a high standard for the future of Trailblazer Esports. As the program continues to evolve, this milestone serves as a testament to the talent and dedication of our student-athletes. Congratulations to Jahmar and Josue on making history for Forsyth Tech!
