Travis Holcomb-Faye Named Forsyth Tech Men's Basketball Assistant Coach
Forsyth Technical Community College has announced the addition of Travis Holcomb-Faye to its men's basketball program as assistant coach. Holcomb-Faye brings a wealth of experience and a strong connection to the local basketball community to the Trailblazers coaching staff.
"I am excited to work with Travis every day as we build this program," said Head Coach Lucas Hunter. "I have gotten to know Travis throughout the last year, and I know our players will benefit from the experience he will bring to our program as both a coach and former player. Travis has played at the level all of our student-athletes strive to get to, and will be a great mentor for them. Travis has tremendous ties to the basketball community across North Carolina and will instantly impact our recruiting efforts. We are fortunate to add a coach of Travis's caliber to our inaugural coaching staff here at Forsyth Tech."
Coach Holcomb-Faye expressed enthusiasm about joining the Trailblazers. "This opportunity at Forsyth Tech is more than just a job to me; coaching basketball is my calling. I'm at Forsyth Tech to develop young men on and off the court. I am no stranger to building programs, and I intend to assist Coach Hunter in building Forsyth Tech into a winning program right away!"
Holcomb-Faye comes to Forsyth Tech after serving as the head coach of the Winston Salem Christian School Regional men's basketball team since 2020. During his time with the Lions, Coach Holcomb-Faye held an overall record of 131-48 and led the team to three conference championships, two conference tournament championships, and one CAA4SC State Championship.
From 2016-2020, Coach Holcomb-Faye was the head coach at Parkland High School in Winston Salem. Under his leadership, the Mustangs held a 65-41 overall record and made it to the playoffs each season. Additionally, the team won one conference tournament championship and one Frank Spencer Championship.
Coach Holcomb-Faye has been active in the summer AAU basketball scene as well, founding Team Winston and winning two AAU National Championships as a coach and one as a player.
A graduate of East Carolina University, Coach Holcomb-Faye played for the Pirates from 1999-2003 and is currently fourth all-time in career assists for the program. He graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in university studies with a thematic core in sports and media services. Travis spent two seasons playing professionally in the ABA.
A native of Winston-Salem, Coach Holcomb-Faye was inducted into the R.J. Reynolds Sports Hall of Fame in 2022. As an athlete, Travis played for legendary head coach Howard West and was a standout player, scoring over 1000 points and earning numerous most valuable player awards.
Forsyth Tech will begin NJCAA Region 10 men's basketball competition this November.
