Morgan & Turner Added to Men's Basketball Staff
Forsyth Technical Community College men's basketball Head Coach Lucas Hunter has announced the additions of Daniel Morgan and Trey Turner to the coaching staff.
Daniel Morgan
Morgan comes to the Trailblazers after spending the last seven years serving the Union Grove Christian basketball program. Morgan has coached both the men's and women's JV and varsity teams and compiled an overall record of 93-50 while winning three conference championships and two NCCSA State Championships.
"Coach Morgan will be an extremely valuable member of our inaugural staff here at Forsyth Tech," said Head Coach Lucas Hunter. "Daniel possesses a high level of energy and an infectious personality that the young men in our program will benefit greatly from."
In addition to coaching at Union Grove Christian, Morgan has coached AAU for the Carolina Impact and Winston-Salem Stealers organizations.
Coach Morgan had this to say about joining the Trailblazer staff, "It's an honor to join the coaching staff at Forsyth Tech. I am excited to assist Coach Hunter in building something special here at Forsyth Tech. I am extremely passionate about teaching the game of basketball, but even more committed to preparing our players for success beyond the court. I believe in the culture that our coaching staff has set out to establish here, and I am proud to be a part of it!"
Trey Turner
Turner comes to the Trailblazers after spending the past season as an assistant coach at Mooresville High School. While serving under Head Coach Armard Moore, Trey was a valuable member of the staff who helped the Blue Devils earn a conference championship and win a program record 24 games this season.
"I have gotten to know Coach Turner while on the recruiting trail over the last year and was impressed by his willingness to work and eagerness to learn," said Head Coach Lucas Hunter. "I have a ton of respect for Trey's start in coaching as a student manager and graduate assistant. I believe the skills he has learned at his various stops will help serve our program well."
Turner expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Trailblazers, "I am very excited to assist Coach Hunter and the staff in building this program at Forsyth Tech. I look forward to helping instill a winning culture and developing the young men in the program. I am thankful for this opportunity and look forward to helping our student athletes grow on and off the court and reach the next level in their basketball journey."
Before his time on the Mooresville bench, Turner was a graduate assistant coach at Longwood University under Head Coach Griff Aldrich. During his lone season with the Lancers, Turner was a part of a team that earned an NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the Big South Tournament.
Turner is a native of Salina, Kansas, and a graduate of Mercer University, where he worked as a student manager with the men's basketball team during his time there, serving as head manager during the 2022-2023 season.
