LOUISBURG, N.C. – Forsyth Tech (14-3, 9-1 Region 10) earned a hard-fought 76-75 road victory over Louisburg College on Thursday night, withstanding a relentless second-half push to secure a key NJCAA Region 10 road win.
Forsyth Tech came out with energy and execution, building momentum early and turning it into a commanding 38-24 halftime advantage. The Trailblazers controlled both ends of the court in the opening 20 minutes, limiting Louisburg College's offensive opportunities while capitalizing on efficient scoring chances of their own.
After the break, the game's tone shifted as Louisburg College mounted an aggressive comeback, outscoring Forsyth Tech by 13 in the second half. The Trailblazers faced mounting pressure as the home crowd intensified and the Hurricanes closed the gap, but Forsyth Tech displayed resilience and poise in the final minutes. Clutch execution at the free-throw line and key defensive stops allowed them to preserve the narrow one-point margin as the final buzzer sounded.
Darnerian Gibson delivered a spectacular offensive performance, scoring 37 points on 10-for-18 shooting, including four three-pointers and 13-for-16 from the line. Gibson also contributed six rebounds and five assists, providing nearly half of the Trailblazers' total points. Kevonta Martin added 11 points on 5-for-9 shooting with four rebounds and two blocks, while Cal Barrett dished out five assists alongside six points and two rebounds including a big four point play with 27 seconds left in regulation. Jasean Williams anchored the glass, pulling down a team-high eight rebounds and adding a steal on the defensive end.
The Trailblazers' 75 percent shooting from the free-throw line (15-for-20) proved crucial in the tightly contested finish. Despite Louisburg College's second-half charge, Forsyth Tech's discipline, timely buckets and relentless effort ensured they emerged with a vital conference victory on the road.
