Forsyth Tech Men's Basketball Wins Overtime Shootout Against Fayetteville Technical CC

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Forsyth Tech (17-3, 12-1 NJCAA D2 Region 10) battled past Fayetteville Technical CC in a thrilling 106-103 overtime win Saturday at West Campus. The Trailblazers withstood a furious second-half rally from the Trojans to claim their 12th conference victory of the season.
The opening half set the tone for an offensive showcase, with both teams executing at a high level. Forsyth Tech built an early lead behind sharp shooting going 10-17 from beyond the arc and aggressive defense, heading into halftime up 55-47. The Trailblazers continued their offensive rhythm in the second half, but Fayetteville Tech responded with relentless pressure and timely scoring runs.
After Fayetteville Tech erased the 8-point halftime deficit to tie the game at 93-93 by the end of regulation, it took a determined overtime effort for Forsyth Tech to pull ahead. In the extra period, the Trailblazers outscored the Trojans 13-10, showcasing poise and execution when it mattered most. Forsyth Tech's 44.4 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 21 team assists highlighted the offensive firepower and ball movement that fueled their victory.
Darnerian Gibson delivered a career night, erupting for 39 points on 11-for-21 shooting, including hitting 4 of 5 from deep and converting 13 of 15 free throws. He also contributed five rebounds and three steals, leading the team on both ends. Cal Barrett added 18 points and two blocks while knocking down four 3-pointers. Kyri Wilson orchestrated the offense with a game-high eight assists and chipped in 13 points. Off the bench, Jasean Williams paced the Trailblazers on the glass with eight rebounds and contributed three assists and three steals.
Teamwide, Forsyth Tech's aggressive defense resulted in 11 steals and six blocks, creating crucial stops down the stretch. The ability to maintain offensive efficiency under pressure and withstand a late-game push displayed the team's collective resilience.
