Forsyth Tech Dominates Johnston Community College in 105-43 Rout

SMITHFIELD, N.C. – Forsyth Tech (18-4) delivered a resounding 105-43 win over Johnston Community College on Thursday night at Innovation Academy in NJCAA Region 10 regular season play. The Trailblazers took control early, built a 20-point halftime lead and outscored the Jaguars 56-14 in the second half to cap a dominant road performance.
From the opening tip, Forsyth Tech established a fast pace and swarming defense, holding Johnston CC to difficult shots and forcing turnovers. The Trailblazers surged ahead, entering halftime with a 49-29 advantage. The second half was even more emphatic, as Forsyth Tech's defense clamped down and the offense exploded for 56 points including 6 straight three point makes in 6 possessions to begin the half. The Trailblazer defense only gave up 14 points in the second period.
The Trailblazers showcased their best two-way performance of the season, shooting 54.1 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from three-point range. The team's relentless pressure led to 11 steals and a commanding 46-23 rebounding edge, including 14 offensive rebounds that fueled second-chance points.
Darnerian Gibson led all scorers with 24 points, connecting on 6 of 13 field-goal attempts and 9 of 12 from the free-throw line, while also tallying 4 steals and 4 assists. Jayden Ross anchored the glass with 12 rebounds and distributed a game-high 6 assists. Off the bench, Jayden McCrae provided instant offense with 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting. Joel Deigna was equally sharp, scoring 14 points and knocking down a pair of three-pointers, while Cal Barrett added 11 points, including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.
Forsyth Tech's balanced attack saw five players finish in double figures and 25 total assists on 33 made field goals, exemplifying the team's commitment to ball movement and unselfish play. The Trailblazers also converted 28 free throws on 39 attempts, taking full advantage at the line.
